A popular website asked people for the worst advice they had ever been given.

Some classics included:

  • Kick it to see if there are any more bees inside (there were loads)

  • Invest in DVDs because you can pawn them for cash when you need money

  • The best way to get rid of a sunburn is to take the hottest shower possible

What a contrast to the gems by guests shared in Episode 4 of the Women in HealthTech Show when asked about the best advice they’d been given.

Here’s their list:

  1. Be you because you are good enough

  2. Chance favours the well prepared mind

  3. You are doing the best that you can in the phase of life you're in

  4. Only do what only you can do

  5. If the floor needs sweeping, just get a broom and you sweep the floor better than anyone's ever swept the floor before

  6. Never let anybody define your narrative because you're scared to write it yourself

  7. Fake it till you make it and then be your authentic self

  8. Ask more questions

  9. Listen more than you talk

  10. Lean in, lean in more

What I love most about this list is that it isn’t about learning more, experiencing more, being more, doing more – it’s about being yourself, knowing yourself, having faith in yourself, listening to people and working hard.

Much better than getting stung by angry bees.
